It’s Not Just About a Box of Food
All over Louisiana, churches are getting involved in helping our neighbors. Creativity is the rule of the day. By helping the under-served, trust is built as an opportunity to share the gospel and bring life-change becomes a way of life.
Compassion Ministry seeks to meet the real and felt needs of people so that the gospel can be delivered, spiritual change is offered, and connection to the local church is realized.
Creativity is affirmed in this non-traditional and very effective ministry activity.

How do I Start a Compassion Ministry?
Get the Vision
Pray that God will give you a vision of how you can minister to your community. Download this helpful guide.
- Get Ideas
Visit other similar ministry outreaches to see how they are set up and working. You don’t need to “re-invent the wheel” and this isn’t rocket science. It does take a lot of work, but others have done this before you and each situation is unique, but they all have similarities and you can learn a lot from talking/visiting existing outreach locations. Take the best ideas from each and use them to successfully form the ministry that is needed in your community.

More Compassion Ministries
With the population of unchurched people on the rise, along with the growing population of families going through financial hardships due to years of a weak economy, there has never been a better time and opportunity for our church families to move beyond the sheetrock walls of our church buildings and begin to develop urban ministries that are connecting with people to meet their spiritual and physical needs. Here are some basic steps to creating an urban ministry right where God has you.
Foster Care & Adoption Ministries
Every child needs and deserves unconditional love, care and permanent connections. God has commanded His church to meet the needs of orphans and wherever there is an orphan, he or she is important to God!
