Nelda C Seal

The Nelda C. Seal endowed scholarships for Louisiana mission pastors were begun in 1999. This scholarship was created to provide assistance for Louisiana mission pastors pursuing a Master’s degree or Christian diploma at a Southern Baptist seminary or approved extension center.

Scholarships are:

  • applicants will be notified by the Women’s Missions & Ministry Strategist following State WMU Council approval
  • a signed acceptance form must be received in the Women’s Missions & Ministry office by date stated on the acceptance form
  • scholarships are awarded on a one-year basis and are not automatically renewed. Students must reapply each year
  • for mission pastors to attend a Southern Baptist seminary or approved extension center pursuing a Master’s Degree or Christian diploma
  • in the amount of $1200 per year/ $600 per semester paid directly to the semester per semester

Applicant must be:

  • devoted to the Lord, His church and work
  • pastor of a Louisiana Baptist Convention mission church/church plant
  • endorsed by Director of Missions and the sponsoring church pastor

While at seminary, must:

  • lead mission church/church plant to participate in the Weeks of Prayer for State Missions, International Missions and North American Missions and to contribute to Georgia Barnette State Missions Offering, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
  • lead the mission to support the Cooperative Program and local association through giving a title of the mission’s budget income and be actively involved in the local association
  • be enrolled in six hours minimum each semester

Application Process:

  • request application from Women’s Missions & Ministry by downloading application from this website (LouisianaBaptists.org/Women) or request from Women’s Missions & Ministry office at 318.448.3402
  • applications are available from September 1-May 20.
  • the completed, signed application must be mailed to the Women’s Missions & Ministry office and postmarked on or before May 25 for the upcoming school year
  • scholarships are reviewed and recommended by the scholarship committee and approved by the State WMU Council
  • applicants will be notified by the Women’s Missions & Ministry Strategist following State WMU Council approval
  • a signed acceptance form must be received in the Women’s Missions & Ministry office by date stated on the acceptance form
  • scholarships are awarded on a one-year basis and are not automatically renewed. Students must reapply each year
