Sometimes our phone can be a big distraction when it comes to ministry and getting tasks done. Conversely, there are apps that can really bolster productivity if used in a strategic way. We asked several ministry leaders what apps they found beneficial and compiled a list.

Wordswag (

Wordswag let’s you create nice looking pictures/slides to promote ministry events. It only works from a mobile device but you can save your picture and send it to your computer. Below, I’ve attached a picture I did (in about 5 minutes) with Wordswag.

Trello (

Trello is a Project Management app that our creative team uses. It allows us to set schedules, deadlines. It lets us speak openly about projects that we’ve been working on instead of being bogged down in Email.  It’s web and mobile based. I feel it’s a happy medium between Pinterest and an Excel Spreadsheet.

Verses (iTunes)

We use Verses to encourage scripture memory in our church. It uses fast-paced memory games to help make the process easier and helps motivate people by tracking progress over time.

I use GroupMe daily to communicate with my leaders and students in my discipleship groups. This app allows us to communicate, discuss, plan and encourage regularly without blowing up text message or people feeling left out of the loop. We share pictures, videos, files and other items in the group. It’s the best app out right now for team communication!

Dropbox (iTunes)

I don’t know how guys survive without the Dropbox app. It helps me dump photos and videos when my iPhone memory gets full at camp or other ministry events. It also links to my computer so that I can have access to important documents on the go.
